In order to comply with the 1998 Data Protection Act it is important that individuals are made aware that they are about to enter an area where CCTV recording is active. This is normally achieved by prominent signage placed at the entrances of buildings or the perimeter and approaches of an open or less well defined area. The system owner/operators name and contact details must be stated together with the purpose of the system.
